The 2005 NAAS conference will be held at Växjö University May 26-29, 2005, in co-operation with Blekinge Institute of Technology in Karlskrona, the Swedish Emigrant Institute in Växjö and the Swedish Association for American Studies.

The purpose of the broad theme "American Studies" is to be as inclusive as possible, and to make possible a survey of the broad spectrum of research and teaching projects which exist in such varied areas as (but not limited to) literature, English language, history, political science, film and media, pedagogy, ethnology, religion, economy, and geography, and multidisciplinary approaches such as queer studies, and gender studies.

To participate in the conference you need to be a member of an American Studies association.

Växjö is located in Småland in south central Sweden in the midst of the Swedish crystal kingdom, and Karlskrona south east of Växjö in the province of Blekinge. Both cities have convenient and frequent rail and air connections throughout Scandinavia.
