Accommodation in Växjö for exchange students

Accommodation in Växjö will be provided in student or private housing. Please notice that you have not reserved housing in any specific area on your application. Due to the shortage of housing, a majority of the exchange students will be accommodated OFF campus.

The rooms/flats are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. This means that students who send in their complete application early will be placed first.

On request from both Swedish and international students we strive to mix students as much as possible. Therefore, nationality, gender and age are also taken into consideration when distributing the rooms.

Most of the student rooms have an Internet connection. However, the International Office cannot guarantee this as there are several rooms without this service. At the university there are places to plug in your laptop or you can use the computer rooms.

Dorm rooms can not be shared with another student. One room flats are often shared by two students.

Housing options

Student rooms / shared flats
There are three major areas of student housing in Växjö. For the 2007/2008 academic year, the average estimated cost for a single student room including private bathroom with shower and toilet is between SEK 3 000 and SEK 4 000 per month. There are a few rooms which are less expensive as well as a few more expensive rooms.

ISEP
ISEP students will receive a stipend of SEK 24 200 in room and board benefits per semester. ISEP students are normally placed in the single student rooms costing approximately SEK 3 000 per month.

The housing cost will be covered by the stipend and the food allowance is distributed in the form of a cheque. The housing deposit must be paid, in advance, by ISEP students as well.

Non-exchange students
Växjö University cannot assist in arranging accommodation for non-exchange students. The Student Union has a list of private rooms and some student flats. For further information please contact bostad@siv.vxu.se
