Undergraduate education
Undergraduate education includes 116 education programmes and supplementary programmes, and more than 1 100 single subject courses in more than 50 subjects. A postgraduate degree is awarded in more than 20 different subjects.
Most students at Växjö University attend education programmes. However, there are also many students who focus on special subjects and attend single subject courses. More than 3 000 students are registered in education entailing alternative forms of instruction such as distance learning, evening- and weekend courses.
Research
Research at Växjö University covers the humanities, social sciences, and technology and includes a number of well-established research areas, such as labour market policy, entrepreneurship, history, mathematical modelling, migration, sociology, as well as forest, wood, and bio energy technology. At the moment research education is available in 20 subjects and employs 266 research students.
Collaboration with the surrounding world
Växjö University has an active collaboration with the surrounding society; trade, public sector, organisations and pro-bono associations – locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Collaboration is an important part of operations within education and research. Many of the university’s teachers and researchers also actively collaborate with companies and public employers.
The university – campus
Teaching facilities, the library, student housing, places of entertainment, and leisure time activities. All of the operations provided by the university and its students are found at the university campus south of central Växjö.
In order to meet the strong development of the university, the primary property owner and landlord at campus, Videum, attempts to increase the number of external businesses at campus, which already comprises of 110 companies. The development plans are based on collaboration between Videum, the university, and industry.
