FRX104 - Autobiographical Writing / L’écriture autobiographique

The aim of the course is to extend the student’s knowledge of autobiography as a literary genre. The texts studied are representative of several types of autobiographical writing. They allow a discussion on the concept of genre and on the related boundaries between reality and fiction.

Le but du cours est d’approfondir les connaissances de l’étudiant sur l’autobiographie en tant que genre littéraire. Les textes étudiés sont considérés comme représentatifs pour différents types d’écriture autobiographique ; ils permettent une discussion de la notion de genre et de la démarcation entre réalité et fiction s’y rapportant.

Prerequisites
Students need to have successfully completed two semesters (60 ECTS or equivalent) of French studies with at least 10 credit points (15 ECTS) of French literature.

Teaching methods
The teaching methods are lectures and seminars. The course is aimed at students at the advanced undergraduate level.


FRX106 - African Literatures in French / Littérature africaine de langue française

The course is an introduction to African literatures in French and the student is given an opportunity to deepen his/her knowledge, regarding a certain issue, a specific region or a special theme. The texts studied shed light on literatures in French from several regions in Africa, and link these literatures to social and political issues. The course also allows a discussion of the texts studied, against the background of the questions asked by post-colonial and genus theories.

Le cours est une introduction à la littérature africaine de langue française et donne à l’étudiant l’occasion d’approfondir ses connaissances sur une certaine question, une région spécifique ou un thème particulier. Les textes étudiés mettent en lumière la littérature de langue française dans différentes régions d’Afrique et établissent des liens entre cette littérature et les faits sociaux et politiques. Le cours permet aussi une discussion de la littérature étudiée, avec pour arrière-plan les interrogations posées par les théories post-coloniales et du genre.
